Treasures and Trifles: A Neighborhood Tradition

We have just completed the most successful Treasures and Trifles sale in our history. Proceeds increased from $28,000 in 2025 to $51,423 in 2026…a remarkable leap that reflects the generosity of our community and the extraordinary effort behind the scenes.

Donations poured in from our neighborhood and far beyond, with a noticeable rise in both the quantity and quality of items collected. At the same time, our volunteer force grew from 55 to 96 people…neighbors and friends willing to do whatever was needed, whenever it was needed.

This year’s sale reflected the clear vision and thoughtful design of our Chairman, Bernie Baker, whose eye for presentation and flow shaped the entire experience. From there, it was the volunteers who made it all happen.

It rained for two solid days as items were pulled from storage, unloaded, and sorted…often by very strong, very determined volunteers working through the weather. The following five days were consumed entirely by setup and display. This wasn’t simply arranging furniture by category. Entire bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, and dens were carefully staged to draw the eye to every detail. More than a dozen chandeliers hung beautifully from the mesquite trees, transforming the grounds into something magical and unforgettable.

Inside San Pedro Chapel, shoppers discovered hundreds of art objects…from paintings and antique music boxes to a magnificent sculpture by Sergio Bustamante. Tables were filled with fine china alongside modern wine glasses and practical serving dishes for everyday use. We truly had it all.

And shoppers bought nearly everything. What remained was thoughtfully donated to another charity, ensuring that generosity continued well beyond the sale itself.

Proceeds from Treasures and Trifles benefit the San Pedro Chapel Preservation Fund and the Old Ft. Lowell Live at Home program, supporting both the preservation of our historic chapel and the vital services that help our neighbors live independently in their own homes.

Treasures and Trifles is, at its heart, a community effort…guided by vision, brought to life by volunteers, and sustained by extraordinary generosity. The success of 2026 belongs to every donor, volunteer, and shopper who made it possible.
